Country star Luke Combs shared a duet with an eight-year-old battling cancer at Boston’s Gillette Stadium last week.
Cooper Massengill was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of three, and has been valiantly battling the disease ever since, enduring numerous surgeries along the way.
The young boy’s wish was to meet his favorite country singer, Luke Combs, and Make-A-Wish Foundation went above and beyond to make it happen.
Not only did Cooper get to meet Combs, but he also had the unique opportunity to join him on stage and sing smash hit “Fast Car,” creating a lifetime memory for the young fan.
The excitement in the stadium was palpable as Cooper took center stage. The crowd erupted in cheers and chants of his name, paying tribute to his resilience and determination throughout his journey.
“When I was walking up, everyone was shouting my name. It felt great,” Cooper remarked.
For Cooper’s parents, Melissa and Travis Massengill, watching their son face the challenges of his illness has been an awe-inspiring experience.
Cooper’s mother expressed her gratitude towards Make-A-Wish for making her son’s wish come true, while his father marveled at the organization’s ability to orchestrate such a magical moment.
“It was great to see him get the wish he wanted after going through everything,” Travis commented.
Cooper’s family recognized the significance of Cooper’s wish being fulfilled and the impact it has had on his life, urging others to appreciate the value of receiving such a wish.
“I was just amazed they could organize all that for him,” Melissa added. “They really came through for him and made his wish come [true].”
In another act of kindness from a country star, Morgan Wallen reached out to the family of Idaho student murder victim Ethan Chaplin, who was allegedly a victim of suspect Bryan Kohberger’s stabbing rampage that took the lives of three other students in November 2022.
When Wallen heard that the 20-year-old’s family were huge fans, he sent them tickets to his San Diego show and were taken backstage to meet the country star.
Wallen also used the occasion to cut a check to the charitable organization the family, which includes his mother, father, and two surviving triplet siblings, has set up in Ethan’s name.
“It was an incredibly bittersweet, full-circle moment,” Ethan’s mother Stacy said. “Truthfully, the show would have been enough. We were all over the moon, and then Morgan handed us a donation check to the Ethan’s Smile Foundation.”
“It was one of the kindest gestures in my life. I still cannot believe it happened, and it isn’t easy to recognize it all came at a massive cost to our family,” she noted.
