Three Men Prevent Woman’s Kidnapping

Three Massachusetts men stepped in to prevent a woman from being kidnapped by her ex-husband.

According to the Plymouth Police Department, a 39-year-old man tried to forcibly take his estranged ex-wife from her home, which she had a restraining order to prevent him from entering.

Police received several calls about a “man chasing a woman down the street with a gun” and responded, but three good samaritans managed to save the day before they arrived.

The woman was holding one of her children, when her crazed ex grabbed her by the head and neck to pick her up and drag her out of the house.

Her screams got the attention of Jamie Costa, a former corrections officer who shouted at the man to leave the woman alone and “lined him up for a good old fashioned football tackle.”

“At that point in time, there was no turning around, just make it happen,” Costa recalled.

The man pulled a handgun out of his waistband, but brothers Jeffrey “Chili” Williams, and David Williams, who witnessed what happened, jumped in the fray.

One brother luckily was licensed to conceal carry and pulled his firearm on the man, while the other brother helped Costa tackle and disarm the attacker.

The three men worked together to subdue the struggling suspect until police arrived on the scene.

The dangerous ex-husband was immediately taken into police custody, they discovered two replica firearms, a knife, handcuffs and a face mask in his possession at the time.

He was charged with multiple offenses including kidnapping, assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless endangerment of a child, and violation of a restraining order, amongst others.

“We feel that these men probably saved this woman’s life,” said Plymouth Police Captain Jason Higgins.

Costa was honored by the Plymouth Police Department for stepping in to prevent the woman’s abduction.

According to local news outlet WCVB, this wasn’t the first time he stepped in to prevent a crime.

In 2019, Costa assisted Plymouth Police by tackling a man who was attempting to flee as he was being arrested for multiple felonies.

“He actually tackled a violent felon for us, so this guy is just in the right place at the right time helping people out. We said we want to give him a job,” Higgins quipped.

“You see a lot of people videoing these instances instead of doing something about it, and I wasn’t gonna do that. I was taught to do something about it, so I did something about it,” Costa remarked about his heroic actions.

“As a man it’s kind of your responsibility. I guess is how I was taught to help out, so I just helped out,” he told reporters.
