Laurynas Buzinskas is a graphic designer, street artist, and muralist based out of Chicago, Illinois. He originally hailed from Lithuania, but immigrated to the United States as a young adult to pursue his passion for graffiti in the country that is considered the birthplace of the art form.
His passion for spray painting started at a young age and led him into the streets late at night to pursue his interest. While he was in high school, Laurynas would sneak out of his house with a group of older taggers and come back home in the early hours of the morning in time for school.
His father eventually caught him coming home one morning, and was afraid that his son was out committing robberies, but Laurynas assured him that he had been out creating art. While his father was relieved, the police were less than enthusiastic with Laurynas’ penchant for defacing public and private property. Before he was even out of high school, Laurynas already had several brushes with the law, and his most serious arrest almost landed him a two-year sentence in a Lithuanian prison.
Laurynas managed to dodge jail by enrolling in art school, and when he graduated, the young graphic artist moved to another continent to pursue his dream of becoming a graffiti artist.
He describes his love for spray painting as an “addiction” because he never takes a day off. “I paint for hours a day, seven days a week,” he remarked. “There’s not clock in, clock out, I’m living the dream. That’s what I really love to do. That’s addiction.”
