Brett has some advice for the Everyday Heroes viewers: “Be you, be who you are, don’t overthink who you are.”
He noted that by being your authentic self, you’ll attract the right type of people to be around.
Brett cited a story about when he was considering getting engaged to his girlfriend at the time, and sought the advice of a youth pastor.

“He said, when you’re with somebody, and you think about if you should marry them, or not, you’ll know when you know,” Brett recalled.
Though the pastor admitted the advice was vague, he assured Brett that he would “totally get” what he was saying the moment it happens.
Brett’s addition to the pastor’s advice, is “if you’re saying what if to it, then you’re not totally sure, but if there are no what if’s … Go for it.”
He said with his now wife, Chrisa, “he knew when he knew,” and they remain happily married decades later.
